Our projects during the Pandemic

The Covid 19 pandemic will mean a break in 2020 for the aubiko projects. After many projects had been carried out until March, numerous projects had to be postponed afterwards – but postponed is not cancelled – we have also been able to establish new projects.

Projects in 2022

Projects in 2021

Student encounter in Cologne
Together with the Montessori-Gymnasium in Cologne and the Lyceum Ogólnokształcące in Stanisława Staszica in Lublin, a youth exchange took place in Cologne from 25th to 29th of October 2021. 20 10 grade Montessori-Gymnasium German students and 16 9/10 grade Polish Lyceum students spent five days intensively dealing with the topic of the media landscape. Among other things, they dealt with the role of the media in today’s world, but also with the importance of diversity in public broadcasting activities. In addition, the participants worked on the importance and responsibility of the media in dealing with fake news, cyberbullying and hate speech. The overarching goal was to learn how to deal with today’s media landscape, including the Internet and social networks, in a self-responsible manner.

On Monday, 03/22/2021 at 6:00 pm we will be hosting another info night about our outbound student exchange program. We now also offer an exchange year in Italy or France. The info evening will be held via Zoom – to register please contact info@aubiko.de!

Last week, we from aubiko e.V. had the opportunity to participate in the workshop „TRIYOU online“, organized by the German-Polish Youth Office (DPJW) and to exchange ideas with interested people from Poland, Germany and Ukraine. The seminar was aimed at multipliers who are involved in international youth work with a focus on youth exchange.

First, all participants reported on their respective experiences and approaches during the pandemic and worked together to find solutions to the often similar challenges.

Due to the creativity and communication skills of all participants, an exciting exchange could take place and interesting strategies could be discussed.

Through a varied presentation by the organizers, we were able to get to know and try out new online tools.

Finally, together with the other participants, we formulated our goals and ideas for future projects. We are curious to see what will become of these drafts.

We from aubiko e.V. thank you very much for the successful organization and look forward to the next exciting workshop!

We say goodbye to Soundouss, who did her student internship with us for the last 2 weeks, thank her for her support and wish her all the best!

„My name is Soundouss, I am 17 years old and I come from Morocco. I did my internship at aubiko e.V. from 11.01.21 to 22.01.21 and it was a lot of fun . The aubiko team is very warm, friendly, helpful and they help me to integrate into the team. On the first day I met Katharina and Julia and they were very nice and explained everything about the work and projects. And during the two weeks I could meet many nice people: Annika, Maike, Lena, Damiens, Emma and Christian. Unfortunately, the team was in home office, so I could not meet all of them.

I worked in the project Student Exchange Cali 21 and it was a cool experience because I learned about another culture and also many things about Germany. Annika , Maike and Katharina worked on this project and I helped a little bit ( making a poster for the exchange students, creating Kahoot, taking screenshots and writing Facebook posts …) and I also participated in the preparation course.

I also did some accounting with Damien. He helped me a lot and explained many things about the field.

I learned many new things, like teamwork and they helped me to improve my German.

Julia was a very good internship supervisor, she always has positive energy and she loves her job, so she was very pleasant.

I am very thankful for the whole Aubiko team helping me to spend my two weeks in a good environment and without any problems.

Soundouss“

On 12.11.2020 we organized an information evening about our student exchange programs to the UK and Ireland via Zoom and were thus able to present interested students and their parents different possibilities to go with us to the UK and Ireland. Both the shorter language and cultural trips and the longer-term student exchange programs offer students a great opportunity to experience British/Irish culture, live with a host family, and improve their language skills.

The next information evening will take place in January 2021 – we are looking forward to it!

Feel free to contact us at any time if you are interested in our programs and would like to register for our info evening!

Promoting intercultural exchange at schools
Since August 2019, the AJA Arbeitskreis gemeinnützige Jugendaustausch (AJA), together with its member organizations, has been implementing the project Schule:Global, which is supported by the Robert Bosch Foundation. The aim of the 2.5-year project is to support schools in implementing intercultural learning and exchange. To this end, a seal was developed to reward schools that take on this task and (further) develop intercultural goals for their school. In addition, schools can make use of a coach who accompanies the school individually along the way and inspires more people for this topic through offers and training. The newly created website www.schule-global.de provides detailed information about the coach’s services, the possibilities of obtaining the seal, and the offers of the AJA member organizations.

We at aubiko e.V. are pleased that we can continue to develop our cooperation with schools and hope for a lot of interest and schools that use the new seal for themselves and promote exchange at schools.

Climate fasting – How can nutrition be changed in a climate-friendly way?

Our current project takes place in cooperation with the Hamburg district schools and deals with sustainable and climate-friendly cooking. Our project is dedicated to individual CO2 emissions from eating and aims to empower young people to question their food consumption and develop individual action plans to change their own diet. On the first day of the workshop, we work with the students on the topic of sustainability and look at our own ecological footprint. On the second day of the workshop, we will cook environmentally friendly meals together. Each dish will be documented with photos and will be part of a recipe calendar.
